ABOUT:
GoldGen – Sustainability Gap Bridging across Generations is a forward-looking Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership in Adult Education that responds to one of Europe’s most important contemporary challenges: ensuring that the green and digital transition is inclusive for all generations.
As Europe advances toward a circular economy and climate-neutral future, older adults remain a highly influential but often underrepresented group in sustainability strategies, digital education initiatives, and innovation-driven learning environments. GoldGen recognises that senior citizens are not passive observers of change. They are active consumers, community members, knowledge holders, and citizens whose engagement is essential for building resilient and sustainable societies.
The project’s central mission is to empower seniors through high-quality adult education and lifelong learning opportunities focused on sustainability, circular economy principles, and digital competences. Through accessible training methods and user-friendly tools, GoldGen supports older adults in understanding and applying sustainable practices in their everyday lives.
The project is implemented by a transnational partnership of six organisations from France, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, and Finland, combining expertise in adult education, digital innovation, inclusion, sustainability, and European cooperation.
GoldGen will develop a complete learning ecosystem designed specifically for older learners, including:
A European Training Curriculum
A structured educational framework covering key themes such as waste reduction, responsible consumption, reuse and repair culture, energy efficiency, sustainable lifestyles, and digital tools for everyday use.
Interactive Digital Learning Platform
An accessible online environment tailored to the needs of senior learners, with intuitive navigation, inclusive design, multilingual resources, and flexible self-paced learning opportunities.
Training for Adult Educators
Specialised resources for trainers, facilitators, and organisations working with seniors, enabling them to deliver impactful sustainability education and digital empowerment programmes.
Pilot Activities and Community Learning
Local workshops, testing phases, and real-life learning experiences where participants can apply knowledge in community settings and share experiences across generations.
Dissemination and Long-Term Impact
Awareness campaigns, multiplier events, and open educational resources ensuring that project outcomes remain available and transferable beyond the project lifetime.
GoldGen strongly aligns with key European priorities, including:
- Active Ageing
- Environment and Climate Action
- Digital Inclusion
- Lifelong Learning
- Social Participation
- Intergenerational Solidarity
The project also promotes a new narrative around ageing—one where senior citizens are recognised as contributors to innovation, sustainability, and democratic participation.
By combining education, technology, and environmental awareness, GoldGen creates pathways for seniors to remain active, connected, informed, and empowered in a rapidly changing world.
GoldGen is more than a project. It is a European commitment to ensuring that sustainability belongs to every generation.
